The market of rice The week began with a continuation of the upward trend observed in recent surveys, although the pace of increases lost momentum at the daily close. According to Cepea data from September 21, the two monitored indicators remained above R$ 82 per sack and accumulated gains exceeding 4% for the month.
The Cepea/Irga-RS indicator for paddy rice with 58% of whole grains closed the day quoted at R$ 82.03 per sack, an increase of 0.13% compared to the previous closing price. With this result, the accumulated appreciation in September reached 4.67%. In commercial dollars, the value was US$ 16.06 per sack.
The average price of paddy rice with a yield between 59% and 62% of whole grains showed a daily increase of 0.05%, reaching R$ 82.98 per sack. For the month as a whole, the increase reached 4.35%, while the converted price was US$ 16.25.
The data shows a slowdown in the gains compared to previous sessions. On September 18, for example, the 58% indicator had advanced 0.31%, while the average of the product between 59% and 62% registered a gain of 0.52%. Despite the reduced pace, both continued on a positive trajectory.
According to Sergio Cardoso, an analyst in the rice supply chain, the performance of the product with 58% whole grains is noteworthy. In addition to again registering the largest daily variation between the two indicators, this category maintains a higher monthly appreciation than that observed in higher-yielding rice. Recent behavior leaves open the question of whether the market is going through a consolidation phase at current levels or a pause before a new price movement.
