Rain increases uncertainty about wheat quality.

The harvest of wheat It begins amidst a market with low supply of old grain, irregular quality in the first batches of the new harvest, and heightened attention to the return of the rains. According to a market survey that gathers information from Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná, the weather and the condition of the grains are beginning to influence negotiations and the stance of buyers and sellers.

In Rio Grande do Sul, demand for old wheat remains strong, but stocks are running low. Deals were made between R$ 1,500 and R$ 1,530 per ton, while sellers are already asking from R$ 1,550 to R$ 1,600. For the new crop, buyers are indicating between R$ 1,350 and R$ 1,400 in the interior, given lots with a pH between 77 and 78, gluten from 21 to 22, and W close to 180. The harvest has not yet reached 1% of the state's area and is concentrated in regions near the Uruguay River. Initial analyses show a pH between 73 and 80, with the largest volume at 77, in addition to DON from 1,100 to 1,900 and W from 170 to 220.

Rainfall, with accumulations of 40 to 200 millimeters, interrupted work and may limit the progress of the harvest. Between 20% and 25% of the areas are close to the cutting point, increasing uncertainty about quality. In Panambi, the price at the counter rose to R$ 74 per sack.

In Santa Catarina, mills are well-stocked and there are occasional deals at R$ 1,520 FOB, with no new wheat available. In Paraná, old crop stocks are practically exhausted, while the new harvest is showing pH and falling number problems. Type 1 wheat is priced between R$ 1,450 and R$ 1,550 CIF to the mill, depending on the delivery date. Paraguayan wheat reached US$ 320 in Campos Gerais and Argentinian wheat reached US$ 325 in Paranaguá.
