Beef from Mato Grosso conquers Peru and opens doors to new international markets.

The quality of beef from Mato Grosso won over Peruvian palates during a barbecue night held on Wednesday (24), at Expoalimentaria, the largest food industry fair in Latin America, in Lima.

Premium cuts of meat produced in the state were served, in an action that sought to highlight not only the flavor and tenderness of the protein, but also its sustainable production process, based on one of the strictest environmental laws in the world.

“We want to promote Mato Grosso beef, and there’s nothing better than being able to taste the quality of our protein. It was a success; we had a great demand for our products and received many compliments,” says the administrative and financial director of the Mato Grosso Meat Institute (Imac), Henrique Prado Olvido de Miranda.

The choice of Lima to host the event was no accident, as the city is an important gastronomic hub in Latin America. “This event gives us the opportunity to showcase Mato Grosso's beef through high-end cuisine. We have an exclusive cut from the state, the MT Steak, which embodies this quality and can satisfy even the most discerning palates,” points out the administrative and financial director of Imac.

In addition to the tasting, Imac participated on Thursday (25) in the “Border Business” event, which brought together representatives from border states of Brazil to promote the national food industry and attract potential commercial partners.

Among the actions being studied is the implementation of a flight from Cuiabá to Lima, to facilitate interaction between the two countries. “We are working hard here and haven't stopped talking with all Peruvian stakeholders to try to establish an international flight. It's a serious, collaborative effort, undertaken by all agencies in Mato Grosso and by the entire civil society,” emphasizes the Secretary of State for Economic Development, Cesar Miranda.

“For Imac, it is very important to participate in Expoalimentaria, together with the State Secretariat for Economic Development and Invest MT, to present the technical data on beef production, its quality, and our system, which is one of the most sustainable in the world, showcasing our state's capacity and potential for investment,” says Henrique.

Leader in production
Mato Grosso is currently the largest producer of beef in Brazil and a world reference in the sector. The state has the largest herd in the country, with more than 32 million head of cattle, and accounts for approximately 171% of all Brazilian beef. A large part of this production is destined for export, supplying demanding markets such as China, Chile, the European Union and the Middle East.
