Soybeans reach R$ 149.59 in Ponta Grossa before the USDA

The market of soy The behavior of different producing regions in Brazil on Wednesday (7) was observed. While Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina registered greater activity in negotiations, other regions maintained a cautious stance ahead of the release of the Supply and Demand report from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), scheduled for Friday (9). According to an analysis by Grão Direto, export premiums rose, even with pressure on prices on the Chicago Stock Exchange, influenced by the progress of the North American harvest.

Grainsights, the market intelligence arm of Grain DirectThe report indicates that the Brazilian market showed greater willingness to do business in the Southern region. Producers in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina took advantage of available prices and greater exchange rate stability to make sales. In the other states monitored, activity was more limited, with some sellers preferring to wait for further information before negotiating.

In Paraná, FOB soybeans in Ponta Grossa closed Wednesday quoted at R$ 149.59 per sack, for November 2026. The municipality registered a positive premium of R$ 6.04 per sack, the highest among the locations presented in the survey. This premium, also called basis, represents the difference used as a reference in the formation of the local price. The region has access to the road and rail transport corridor that connects the interior to the ports of the South, a characteristic highlighted in the Grainsights analysis.

In Mato Grosso, the market showed moderate activity, with sellers being more cautious. In Mato Grosso do Sul, commercial activity was lower, while Minas Gerais, Goiás, and São Paulo had sporadic transactions. The survey also points to differences in planting progress. In parts of Mato Grosso, irregular rainfall interrupted fieldwork, while other areas managed to advance. In Mato Grosso do Sul, planting progressed in the central and southern regions, but remained behind schedule in the north of the state.

In the international market, the impending release of the USDA's WASDE report contributed to an atmosphere of anticipation. The document, scheduled for October 9th, compiles information on agricultural supply and demand and is closely monitored by market participants. Grainsights' analysis points to an expected reduction in estimates of US stocks. If this revision is confirmed, it could favor a recovery in Chicago prices, which have been under pressure due to the progress of the harvest in the United States.

Another point monitored by the sector is the exchange rate, with the dollar again above R$ 5.00. At the same time, the appreciation of export premiums indicates greater price support at ports, despite the behavior in Chicago. For the coming days, the Grainsights survey highlights the release of new USDA figures, the reaction of the dollar, and the regularity of rainfall in Mato Grosso as factors to be observed by the market.
