Corn exports from Mato Grosso for the 2025/26 harvest increased by 89.48% in August 2026 compared to July, reaching 2.99 million tons. According to data released by Secex, the pace of shipments increased with the greater availability of the cereal after the harvest was completed, but the volume was still 24.95% below that recorded in August 2025.
Historically, corn shipments from Mato Grosso pick up pace starting in August, a period when the supply of the grain increases after the harvest is completed. The monthly increase, therefore, follows the typical behavior of exports in the state.
Despite the increase compared to July, the performance was below that recorded in the same month of the previous year. According to data released by Secex, the drop of 24,95% compared to August 2025 is mainly related to the greater focus of production on the domestic market.
Strengthening domestic demand has supported corn prices in Mato Grosso and increased the competitiveness of the local market in relation to exports.
Even with this increased participation from the domestic market, the external market will remain relevant for the flow of supply for the season. According to data released by Imea, the estimate is that Mato Grosso will export 24.10 million tons of corn from the 2025/26 harvest.
Of this estimated volume, approximately 19.53 million tons remain to be shipped in the next ten months. According to data released by Imea, this volume is 3.50% higher than that recorded in the same period of the previous cycle.
The need to ship this volume indicates that exports should gain momentum in the coming months. The increased supply available in the state should expand the foreign market's share in the flow of production. The scenario therefore combines a significant increase in shipments in August and strengthened domestic demand. While domestic sales support prices and increase the competitiveness of the local market, exports remain important to absorb part of the corn supply available in Mato Grosso.
According to data released by Imea, shipments are expected to pick up pace over the next few months to help move the 19.53 million tons still projected for export in the 2025/26 season.
