Soybean nematode management gains new protection starting with seed treatment.

Plant-parasitic nematodes are among the main challenges to the productive stability of soy Brazilian species such as Pratylenchus brachyurus, Meloidogyne javanica, Heterodera glycines, Rotylenchulus reniformis, and Helicotylenchus dihystera can compromise root development and absorption of nutrients and the accumulation of biomass even before symptoms appear in the aerial part of the plant. Therefore, management should begin from the planting stage, preparing the plant to respond to stress from germination onwards.

Technology that works from the inside out.

TEIKKO™, registered with MAPA under number 35023, is a biochemical developed by PI AgSciences for soybean seed treatment. Its active ingredient is Harpin Protein Derivative Peptides at 1% m/m (10 g/kg), which act through PREtec™ (Plant Response Elicitor Technology).

Upon contact with the seed, the peptides promote a state of physiological priming, preparing the plant to respond more quickly and efficiently to contact with nematodes. Thus, the technology acts systemically from germination, complementing integrated management and contributing to lower nematode pressure and greater productive stability.

Recommended dose: 20 g/ha (90 µg/seed).
– Stability: 36 months under conventional storage conditions.
– Compatibility: On-farm and industrial seed treatment package.

Results validated under real-world conditions.

The technology was validated in the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 growing seasons by more than 60 institutions in eight Brazilian states. At Fundação MS, 100% of R. reniformis control was recorded at 30 DAE, 85.71% of P. brachyurus reduction in roots, and a gain of +9.72 sc/ha over the control. At Fundação MT, a multi-year protocol indicated reductions of up to 51.2% of P. brachyurus, 43.5% of H. glycines, and a higher accumulated productivity of +3.21 sc/ha, without phytotoxicity. Adopted by more than 400 producers, Harpin Protein-Derived Peptides at 1% expand integrated management with active protection from seed treatment onwards.
