Exports from Paraná to India grew 95% in the first two months of 2026.

Recognized as one of the world's most dynamic economies, with the prospect of reaching third place in the global GDP ranking within a few years, behind only the US and China, India is increasingly standing out as a buyer of goods from Paraná.

According to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC), collected by the Paraná Institute for Economic and Social Development (Ipardes), the state's exports to India totaled US$108 million in the first two months of this year, which corresponds to an increase of US$95 compared to the same period in 2025, when sales reached US$55.6 million.

As a result, India's share of total exports from Paraná rose from 1.7% to 3.5%, securing third place among the destinations for goods produced in Paraná, behind only China and Argentina. In the first two months of last year, the Asian country ranked 15th among countries that purchased products from Paraná.

This 2026 volume is so significant that it already equals almost half of the exports made to the country throughout all the months of 2020 and 2021, for example. The best year for the trade relationship was 2023, with exports in the range of US$$ 751 million.

Among the exported goods, soybean oil, metallurgical products, petroleum derivatives, and paper stand out, together accounting for US$87% of the revenue generated by trade with India in the first two months of 2026. Regarding imports, the State acquired US$$ 70.7 million in Indian goods in the first two months of the current fiscal year, with chemical products being the most prominent.

According to Jorge Callado, from a strategic perspective, the State Government and exporters have been monitoring the movements of the Indian market, as they consider the country one of the cornerstones of future growth in Paraná's foreign sales. "Expanding trade with India is of great interest to the State, given the understanding that production for export generates employment and income locally," he analyzes.

High exports

Exports from Paraná to Asian and European markets have grown significantly this year. State sales to Japan, Singapore, and the Philippines increased by 107%, 103%, and 124%, respectively, in the first two months of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025. In other words, they doubled in size.

In the case of sales to the Japanese market, the increase was mainly driven by chicken meat, while exports to Singapore and the Philippines showed growth based on oil and pork, respectively. Trade with Europe involved increased exports of taps and valves and soybean meal.

And the good relations with India extend beyond trade. Recently, the Indian multinational Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting and business solutions, announced an investment of R$ 200 million (US$ 37 million) in the construction of a campus in Londrina, in northern Paraná. Present in the city for seven years, where its largest operations center in Brazil is located, the complex is expected to be completed in 2027, with the prospect of generating 1,600 direct jobs.
