Goiás stands out in cassava cultivation in Brazil, registering an increase of 83% in Gross Production Value (VBP) during the historical series from 2016 to 2025, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa). During this period, the VBP of the crop in the state went from R$ 116.7 million to R$ 213.5 million, exceeding the national growth.
Positive results were also recorded in the fields, where the state's cassava production increased by 15.3%, reaching 194,400 tons, driven mainly by the 18.3% expansion in planted area between 2020 and 2025. This movement demonstrates the consolidation of cassava cultivation in different regions of the state and the central role of industrialization in strengthening the production chain, as pointed out by an analysis from the Agricultural Market Intelligence of the Goiás State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa).
According to the head of Seapa, Pedro Leonardo Rezende, the advancement of the crop is also a direct result of public investments in family farming. “The Government of Goiás has invested in strengthening various production chains in the state. In the case of cassava, public policies such as the Mobile Flour and Starch Factory program and the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) are responsible for expanding processing and also the distribution of production, resulting in the progress we are observing,” he emphasizes.
