PT_BR Gerciandro Borges, from Jataí (GO), and Paulo Ricardo, from Itaú de Minas (MG), known as Laranjinha, won the title of best agricultural mechanics in Brazil in the third season of Master Mechanic, a Massey Ferguson reality show. They competed in practical tests that demanded advanced technical knowledge, agility, and diagnostic skills in real field situations. The winning duo received the prize of R$ 50,000 and an exclusive trophy.
For Laranjinha, the achievement represents recognition of a career built with great dedication. “Winning the Master Mechanic is indescribable and very important for my career. It was a close competition, and the victory shows that nobody does anything alone. I was very happy with the duo we formed; we worked together, and the importance of this award is the recognition of being able to demonstrate our ability and knowledge.”
Gerciandro emphasizes how transformative the Master Mechanic experience was: “The feeling is incredible. These were intense days, full of learning, overcoming challenges, and teamwork. Produced by Massey Ferguson, a leading company in the Brazilian agricultural market, the reality show brought together six mechanics from the brand's dealership network, coming from the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Goiás, and Mato Grosso. This season, the highlight was the MF 500R sprayer, one of the brand's most technologically advanced pieces of equipment, essential for ensuring precise and sustainable applications in the field.
The evaluation was carried out by a technical jury composed of José Fernando Schlosser, professor at the Federal University of Santa Maria; Sandra Nalli, CEO and founder of Escola do Mecânico; and Adriano Sontag, specialist from the AGCO service team. The presentation was conducted by journalist Marcela Rafael, alongside rural producer and digital influencer Fernando Viana, who brought the practical perspective of someone who deals with machinery in the field daily.
Mechanics Paulo Luiz, from Tangará da Serra (MT), and Marcos Souza, from Cruz Alta (RS), won second place, and the duo formed by Vagner Hofstetter, from Toledo (PR), and Odair Olson, from Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), came in third. Originally from Itaú de Minas (MG), the mechanic Paulo Ricardo Mariano, 35 years old, known among work colleagues and friends as Laranjinha, and Married and father of three, Paulo began his career at age 18 when he joined Somassey, a Massey Ferguson dealership, where he works as a tractor mechanic and specialist in the operation of agricultural machinery. With 17 years of experience, he is considered a benchmark in the region, conducting technical deliveries, maintenance, diagnostics, and training with clients. He has completed over 80 official courses, covering everything from tractors, hybrid and axial harvesters, planters, and sprayers, to specific areas such as haymaking, telemetry, hydraulic systems, electronics, and precision agriculture technologies.
