The soybean sowing period began this Monday (1st) throughout Region 2 of Paraná and continues until December 31st. The date marks the end of the sanitary break, which was in effect from June 2nd to August 31st, a period in which the maintenance of live plants in the field was prohibited to control Asian rust. Region 2 covers the municipalities of the North, Northwest, Central-West and West of the state.
The sanitary fallow period was divided into three stages in the state, based on the state's diverse microclimates. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) determined the most appropriate planting periods and reduced the risk of spreading the Phakopsora pachyrhizi fungus, which causes Asian rust.
The disease is considered the most severe in soybean cultivation and can cause productivity losses of up to 90% if left unchecked. In Paraná, monitoring compliance with planting dates and the planting window is carried out by the Paraná Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapar), an agency linked to the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab).
According to the first estimate of the 2025/2026 soybean harvest in Paraná released last Thursday (28) by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral/Seab), there was an increase in area and production. The initial forecast is 5.79 million hectares planted, 0.6% more than the 5.75 million hectares of the previous cycle.
According to a preliminary analysis for 2024 released by Deral/Seab, the Gross Production Value (GVP) of soybeans in Paraná totaled R$1,500,000. In the coming weeks, Regions 1 and 3 are also expected to begin soybean planting. Ordinance No. 1,271 of April 30, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture's Agricultural Defense Secretariat (MAPA), establishes the rules for the soybean health gap. See below:
