Brazilian exports grew 4.8% in July

Brazilian exports grew 4.8% in July, in value terms, compared to July 2024. Year-to-date, R$198 billion worth of domestic products were exported. According to the federal government, the increase was significant thanks to trade with the United States, Mexico, Argentina, the European Union, and Japan.

In terms of volume, export growth was even greater: 7.2%, also compared to July of last year, based on trade balance data released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC). "Last month, Brazil exported US$$ 32.31 billion. Year-to-date, through July, Brazilian exports totaled US$$ 198 billion, representing growth of 0.1% in value and 2% in volume, over the same period in 2024. For the year, trade flows totaled US$$ 359 billion, with a surplus of US$$ 37 billion," the ministry detailed.

Destinations

Export growth involved "several destinations." In percentage terms, the country that recorded the highest volume growth—comparing July 2025 with July 2024—was Argentina (42.4%).

In the case of Mexico, exports increased by 17.2%. Exports to the European Union grew by 7.4%, based on the same volume comparison. For Japan, the increase was 7.3%, while for the US, it was 5%.

Beef, crude oils, copper ores, and unroasted coffee are among the products that registered the highest growth in the monthly comparison. "The Manufacturing Industry (which transforms a primary material into a final product or an intermediate product destined for another processing industry, such as pulp being transformed into paper, for example) was the sector that experienced the highest growth in value (7.4%), followed by the Extractive Industry (3.6%) and Agriculture (0.3%)," detailed the MDIC.

Imports

Also in the monthly comparison, Brazilian imports increased 8.4% in value terms. As a result, July closed at US$$ 25.2 billion, with highlights for capital goods (13.4%), intermediate goods (10.8%), and consumer goods (5.1%). "For the year, imports increased by 8.3% in value and 9.7% in volume, totaling US$$ 161 billion through July," the ministry reported.
