Early soybean planting begins in the Cerrado region of Bahia.

The 2026/2027 harvest of soy Planting in the Cerrado region of Bahia begins to advance with the opening of the exceptional early planting window this Friday, September 25th. The period runs until October 7th and allows registered producers to begin sowing before the regular schedule, within the rules defined for the region.

The authorization is provided for in State Decree No. 050/2026, from the Bahia Agricultural Defense Agency, responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and approving registrations. To ensure the emergence of plants as early as this Friday, producers with approved registrations were able to begin work a few days earlier.

This season, 109 rural properties are registered for early planting, totaling approximately 141,000 hectares. According to the Agribusiness Center of the Association of Farmers and Irrigators of Bahia, this area represents a reduction of about 61 TP4T compared to the previous cycle, when approximately 150,000 hectares were authorized.

The entity assesses that the variation is linked to the strategy adopted on each property, considering technical, economic, and operational factors. The reduction only concerns the areas registered for early payment and does not represent a projection for the total area or for the crop performance.

During this period, authorized areas will be monitored, and cultivation will be tracked in municipalities and microregions of the Cerrado in Bahia. The center will also continue with fertilizer analyses and arbitration in grain classification.

Data from IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) places São Desidério with the second highest value of agricultural production in the country, at R$ 8.2 billion, while Formosa do Rio Preto occupies the fifth position, with R$ 5.9 billion. These two municipalities are the only ones outside the Central-West region among the ten highest agricultural values in Brazil.
