Rice prices slow down after September price increase.

The market of rice October began with a slower pace of negotiations in Rio Grande do Sul, after September ended with an increase in the price of unhusked sugar. According to Cepea, the weakening occurred due to the temporary withdrawal of some buyers and a reduction in demand for... rice benefited and the postponement of deals.

The slowdown follows a period of price support. Throughout September, producers' reduced willingness to negotiate increased competition for raw materials and contributed to higher prices for paddy rice in the state.

The price increase was not limited to the product available in the field. Data from Cepea indicate that processed rice also showed an increase during the period, as did prices observed in the international market.

In addition to the change in negotiations, conditions in the fields began to interfere with activities at the end of the month. According to Cepea, excessive rainfall limited work in the fields during the closing of September.

As a result, the beginning of October combines less commercial activity and difficulties in field operations, following a September marked by rising rice prices.
