The soybean harvest advanced five percentage points in one week in Paraná and now stands at 95% of the 5.7 million hectares removed from the fields. The data is part of the Weather and Growing Conditions report released this Tuesday (01) by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply.
The expected production for soybeans is maintained at just over 21 million tons, with 91% of what remains in the field developing well and the rest in average condition. Producers are just waiting for ideal weather conditions to finish the harvest, while technicians hold meetings to release the final crop figures.
The Deral document also refers to the harvest of the first corn crop, which increased by three percentage points in the space of a week, now also standing at 95% of the 268 thousand hectares. The planting of the second cereal crop increased by the same three percentage points and today stands at 99% of the 2.6 million hectares sown.
The conditions of the corn to be harvested are good for 96% of what is left, with completion promised in a few days. The 2nd harvest had worsening conditions in the last week, dropping from 70% to 66% the area in which it is considered in good condition. The bad crops went from 9% to 12%.
Technicians and producers must monitor the crop more closely in the coming days to see if the recent rains were enough to improve seed germination. Regardless, there is a high infestation of aphids and leafhoppers. They are waiting for the rains forecast for next week to start spraying.

The Deral bulletin also reports that the second bean harvest has started slowly. Only 1% of the 332 thousand hectares have been harvested. Most of the crops are forming their first pods. The rains recorded in recent days have benefited the crop, but have not corrected the previous problems that hindered ideal development, with the plants showing a smaller size than expected.
The second potato harvest is also progressing, with 20% of the 10.7 thousand hectares already cleared. However, the amounts received by producers for the 25-kilo bag are not positive. The Deral survey indicates that in March, producers received an average of R$ 30.22 per bag. In February, the amount was R$ 31.66, and in March of last year, R$ 79.85 were paid.
Data on crop conditions in the field in Paraná show that several fruits are in the harvest phase. These include avocado, banana, guava and passion fruit in the Cianorte region. Sugarcane is benefiting from the weather and the outlook is good for the harvest, which begins in a few days.
Irrigated rice in the northwest region of the state continues to be harvested with good production prospects. Coffee fruiting is progressing, but in some areas the ripening period has already begun. The high temperatures of recent months may cause the cycle to be brought forward.
