Soybean crop 26/27 enters October amid excessive rain in the South and still irregular humidity in Mato Grosso.

The 2026/27 Brazilian soybean crop enters October with different planting rhythms and virtually opposite weather problems among some of the country's main producing regions.

In the South, especially in Paraná, the excessive rain has already caused interruptions in sowing, hailstorms, and difficulties in the initial establishment of some areas. In Mato Grosso, on the other hand, rainfall has improved moisture conditions in parts of the state, but is still unevenly distributed, and producers are waiting for more consistent volumes before accelerating their work.

The contrast helps explain why the crop progress is so uneven at the start of this cycle. A survey by AgRural released last Sunday showed Paraná leading the national planting, while Mato Grosso lagged far behind due to irregular rainfall. As of September 24, 3.41 TP4T of the estimated Brazilian area had been sown, compared to 1.21 TP4T a week earlier and 3.21 TP4T at the same time last year.

In the following update, released by Conab and published by Notícias Agrícolas, planting in Mato Grosso had already accelerated to 3.9% after rains allowed progress mainly in the Mid-North, West, and Southeast regions. However, the agrometeorological forecast itself still indicated a risk of further water restrictions in some already planted areas.
