Mato Grosso sows 10,23% of soybeans and maintains a pace below the 2025/26 harvest.

Low rainfall volumes continue to limit the progress of soybean planting in Mato Grosso. New indicators released by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) this Friday (2) show that 10,23% of the area estimated for the 2026/27 crop had been sown. The percentage represents an advance of 6.36 percentage points (pp) in the week, but remains 4.79 pp below that recorded in the same period of the 2025/26 crop.

According to Imea's agricultural analyst, Milena Bezerra, the pace of planting remains contingent on rainfall capable of improving soil moisture conditions.

In the last week of September, the western region showed the greatest weekly progress, with an increase of 10.86 pp, favored by the higher rainfall volumes recorded during the period. With this, it reached 18.42% of the sown area, the highest percentage among the regions of Mato Grosso.

In the municipalities, the greatest progress has been observed mainly in areas with large producer groups. According to Imea, Campo Novo do Parecis is an example of this trend. While these properties are moving forward with their work, other producers remain more cautious and are waiting for more favorable moisture conditions to begin or intensify sowing.

Analyst Milena Bezerra points out that, although the delay compared to the last harvest remains, planting is still in its early stages and could pick up pace if rainfall becomes more regular in the coming weeks.

"Despite the delay, planting is still in its initial phase and, with the return of regular rainfall, the pace is expected to accelerate, allowing us to recover some of the lost ground in the coming weeks," he explains.
