Buyers and sellers are cautious in the corn market.

The Brazilian market of corn The country is going through a period of caution, with buyers and sellers avoiding more aggressive moves in negotiations. According to Cepea, prices have registered only small adjustments in most of the regions monitored in recent days.

On the supply side, producers have restricted sales in the spot market while monitoring planting progress and weather conditions. After episodes of excessive rainfall in the South and Southeast, fieldwork has resumed, but concerns remain about the potential effects of El Niño in the coming months.

The stance of buyers also contributes to limiting market movement. According to Cepea, demand has been sporadic, as consumers report having sufficient stocks to meet short-term needs.

Despite the more restrained supply at the moment, researchers at the Center believe that the scenario could change in the coming weeks. The current greater availability of corn, the slow pace of exports, and the progress of fieldwork in Brazil and the United States may increase the need for producers to sell.

If this trend is confirmed, a larger volume of corn could reach the market, increasing its availability for trading. According to Cepea, this scenario has the potential to put downward pressure on prices.

Thus, while the short term is marked by cautious trading and few fluctuations, the market mainly follows the behavior of supply and the evolution of weather conditions, factors that may define the direction of prices in the coming weeks.
