The 2026/27 harvest is progressing with corn and the start of soybean planting.

The 2026/27 harvest is starting to gain ground in the fields, with progress being made. corn summer and the first movements of planting soy in areas of south-central Brazil. According to Antonio Prado Neto, an agribusiness consultant, the pace of work shows a more advanced start compared to the same period last year, although moisture conditions are still a determining factor in producers' decisions.

In Paraná, the planting of summer corn is progressing at a good pace. Data from Deral indicates that 18% of the planned area had already been sown by the beginning of September, equivalent to 68,461 hectares out of a total estimated at 373,005 hectares. In the Central-South region of the country, progress reached 17%, above the 12% recorded in the same period last year.

Soybeans are also beginning to occupy the first areas in Paraná. Planting represents only 0.05% of the estimated Brazilian area, but exceeds the 0.02% observed a year ago. The end of the sanitary break in some regions, combined with recent rains, has opened up space for the start of planting.

In Mato Grosso, where the sanitary break ends on September 7th, the trend is for different paces. The first areas to be planted should be those irrigated by center pivot, mainly those destined to receive second-crop cotton in January. In rainfed areas, the approach tends to be more cautious, with producers waiting for the rains to consolidate and soil moisture to recover throughout September.

At the beginning of the cycle, anticipating the planting schedule becomes less important given the need for suitable conditions for germination, uniform emergence, and good crop establishment. Attention to weather forecasts and the situation of each plot should guide the progress of planting.
