The market of Fungicides to soy There will be a new option in the 2026-27 crop season, in a scenario of heightened attention to diseases such as Asian soybean rust and target spot. The expectation of delayed planting, irregular rainfall in the Cerrado region, and excessive precipitation in the South may favor the development and even bring forward the occurrence of diseases throughout the cycle.
Sipcam Nichino Brasil is launching Cortina Gold this month, a fungicide that combines the active ingredients prothioconazole and chlorothalonil in a ready-to-use mixture. According to the company, the technology combines systemic, contact, and multi-site action and was validated by nearly 25 research institutions and consultancies before reaching the market.
The evaluation work was carried out over two years. In studies conducted by the MS Foundation, the product achieved a productivity of 4,800 kilograms per hectare, the highest recorded in the research. In the Network Trials, it showed productivity close to 4,600 kilograms per hectare and 60% rust control, with results above the standard treatments evaluated.
In tests coordinated by the Mato Grosso Foundation, the technology achieved up to 84% effectiveness in controlling the target spot. In the treatments used for comparison, the rates ranged between 46% and 80%.
According to Eric Ono, portfolio manager for products and extensive crops, the formulation combines a triazole and a multi-site fungicide, with rapid absorption by the plant and protective, curative, and eradicative action. The company also highlights the low risk of pathogen resistance development. In addition to soybeans, the fungicide is registered for use on cotton, against ramularia leaf spot, and on corn, for the control of cercospora leaf spot.
