Exports grew 20.71% in February, boosting the positive balance.

The trade balance from January to the second week of February recorded a positive balance of US$5.136 billion and a trade flow of US$72.625 billion, resulting from US$38.88 billion in exports and US$33.744 billion in imports.

The preliminary trade balance results were released on Thursday (19) by the Foreign Trade Secretariat, of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services.

Preliminary Partial Trade Balance for the Month – 2nd Week of February/2026

In the second week of February 2026 alone, the trade balance recorded a surplus of US$1.501 billion and a trade flow of US$12.403 billion, resulting from exports valued at US$1.952 billion and imports of US$1.451 billion. For the month, exports totaled US$13.727 billion and imports US$12.934 billion, with a positive balance of US$1.793 million and a trade flow of US$1.661 billion.

In exports, comparing the daily averages up to the 2nd week of February 2026 (US$ 1.3 billion) with that of February 2025 (US$ 1.1 billion), there was a growth of 20.7%. Regarding imports, there was a growth of 11.4% when comparing the averages up to the 2nd week of February 2026 (US$ 1.29 billion) with that of February 2025 (US$ 1.16 billion).

Exports and Imports by Sector

In the accumulated period up to the 2nd week of February 2026, compared to the same month of the previous year, the performance of the export sectors, by daily average, was as follows: growth of US$ 121.93 million (57.2%) in Extractive Industry; growth of US$ 107.5 million (15.9%) in Manufacturing Industry products; and growth of US$ 3.41 million (1.4%) in Agriculture.

Regarding imports, in the accumulated period up to the 2nd week of February 2026, compared to February of the previous year, the performance of the sectors by daily average was as follows: growth of US$ 9.49 million (20.0%) in Extractive Industry; growth of US$ 127.78 million (11.8%) in products from the Manufacturing Industry; and a decrease of US$ 3.56 million (13.4%) in Agriculture.
