With strong external demand, the price per arroba of fat cattle has increased by 35.66% annually in Mato Grosso.

Cattle prices in Mato Grosso registered an annual increase of 35,66% in September 2025, according to data from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (IMEA). The price of fat cattle for future delivery was quoted at R$ R$ 299.92/@, while in the same period of the previous year the average was R$ 221.09/@.

According to the Institute, the increase in prices demonstrates the strengthening of the price per arroba of beef in the state of Mato Grosso. "This scenario was driven by the pace of Brazilian meat exports. Already in 2024, the price per arroba was rising due to the lower supply of animals ready for slaughter," reported IMEA.

The state of Mato Grosso registered a record volume of beef exports in September 2025, shipping 98,980 tons carcass weight equivalent (CWE). According to a survey by IMEA, this was the largest volume ever exported by the state, representing an increase of 10,371 TP4T compared to August 2025.

In the annual comparison, Mato Grosso's exports showed an increase of 48,071 TP4T compared to the same period in 2024. "Furthermore, a highlight was Chile, which surpassed the USA in its share of total exports, accounting for 4,661 TP4T of all beef exports from Mato Grosso in 2025," reported IMEA. 

Even with lower demand from the US, Mato Grosso is expected to maintain its export pace, as the end of the year brings higher international demand, reinforcing the prospect of new records in export volume in 2025.

The Institute also points out that the sideways movement in September 2025 occurred due to the greater participation of females in slaughter, which was 44,03%, 6.81 pp higher than the previous year, since external demand was higher in the annual comparison.

Looking at the long term, the expectation is for further gains in beef prices, but the availability of female cattle will be crucial in determining the intensity of the recovery. 

On the other hand, prices for finished cattle fell slightly by 0.12% last week due to extended slaughter schedules and strong external demand. The price of cattle in the state was R$ 292.92/@. Furthermore, the price of lean cattle weighing 12@ followed the downward trend of finished cattle, experiencing a weekly decline of 0.70%, averaging R$ 341.71/@. 

The 7@ calf also saw a devaluation of 1.88% last week, with the average price at R$ 13.00/kg, reflecting the drop in fat cattle prices in the state.
