Brazilian exports of fresh and processed pork fell from July to August, but remain above the levels observed in the same period of 2024. According to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), 120,000 tons were shipped in August, a reduction of 4.21 TP4T compared to July, but an increase of 2.61 TP4T compared to August 2024.
According to Cepea's Swine Bulletin, the monthly decline was influenced by the fewer number of working days in August (21 days) compared to July (23 days). However, the daily average of exports reached 5,100 tons, an increase of 4.3% compared to the previous month and 6.3% in the accumulated annual total.
Revenue from shipments fell by 81% compared to July, to R$1.597 billion, pressured by lower volume and the appreciation of the real against the dollar. Compared to August 2024, revenue showed an increase of 4.71%. The average price of pork on the international market was US$1,753.1 per ton, the lowest since February 2024.
The Asian continent remained the main destination for Brazilian pork. The Philippines led shipments with 33,400 tons. For the first time in the historical series, Chile became the second largest buyer, with 13,300 tons. China and Japan complete the ranking, with 10,300 and 8,500 tons, respectively.
