Workshop celebrates 50 years of Embrapa Soja

Embrapa Soja will hold on May 26, from 1:30 pm to 6 pm, at the Company's headquarters, in Londrina (PR), the workshop Embrapa Soybean 50 years: history and perspectives, as part of the celebration of the institution's 50th anniversary, completed on April 16, 2025. Registration is free and can be done here.

The workshop Embrapa Soybean 50 years: History and perspectives aims to highlight the relevance of soybeans, the contribution of Embrapa and its partners to soybean cultivation, as well as to project the future of research and soybean farming. “Our idea is to rescue part of the history of research and development carried out in the soybean production chain, the main contributions of Embrapa Soja to the development of soybeans in Brazil, the world's largest producer of this grain, as well as to discuss the future of this oilseed and the opportunities and challenges”, says the general manager of Embrapa Soja, Alexandre Nepomuceno.

The first panel will discuss technological development and innovation as a basis for maintaining the productive sustainability of Brazilian soybeans. The panel will feature Maurício Buffon, president of Aprosoja Brasil, Carlos Ernesto Augustin, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock and president of the Board of Directors of Embrapa, Romeu Kiihl, former researcher at Embrapa Soja, and José Francisco Ferraz de Toledo, former general manager of Embrapa Soja. The panel will be moderated by Alexandre Lima Nepomuceno, general manager of Embrapa Soja.

The other panel will discuss the role of Embrapa Soja in Brazil's leadership in global soybean production and will feature the participation of Décio Luiz Gazzoni, former general manager of Embrapa Soja and former Director of Embrapa; Antônio Márcio Buainain, professor at Unicamp; and Rubens José Campo, former general manager of Embrapa Soja.
