Prices for slaughtered chicken have increased in wholesale in Greater São Paulo at the beginning of May.
According to collaborators consulted by Cepea, this upward movement is linked to the increase in purchasing power of Brazilian consumers, driven by the payment of salaries, and the proximity of Mother's Day – a date that traditionally stimulates sales in the sector.
On the external front, Brazilian chicken meat shipments remained stable from March to April, but the revenue in Reais obtained by exporters was a record for the month, as shown in the historical series from Secex that began in 1997.
Cepea researchers indicate that this excellent financial performance was guaranteed by the appreciation of the dollar against the Real and the increase in the average price of exported products.
