Brazil expands live cattle exports after new agreement with Turkey

Brazil has concluded new negotiations with Turkey and is now authorized to export live cattle for breeding to the Eurasian country. The opening of the market represents a new boost for the national livestock industry, which will now meet the growing Turkish demand for animals with high genetic quality, aimed at improving the local herd.

Between 2023 and 2024, Brazilian exports of live cattle to Turkey, previously limited to animals for slaughter or fattening, totaled approximately US$1,500,000. Now, with the expansion of export criteria, the production sector is seeing new commercial opportunities.

In the same period, Brazil's total agricultural trade with Turkey was worth approximately US$1.5 billion. The main products exported were soybeans, live cattle, green coffee, cotton and cellulose.

With this new advance, Brazilian agribusiness registers its 56th market opening in 2025, accumulating 356 new export opportunities since the beginning of 2023.
