Irregular rainfall is a concern at the start of the soybean planting season.

Irregular rainfall continues to be a concern for the start of summer crop planting in Central Brazil, while areas in the South and Southeast are expected to receive more significant rainfall in the coming days. According to Ampere Meteorologia, the advance of a frontal system should bring precipitation to the South and Southeast, while new fronts expected in September will play a role in the gradual replenishment of moisture in the central areas of the country.

In Central Brazil, the combination of increased moisture availability and warming between rainy periods may favor localized storms. However, this scenario does not yet indicate the effective start of the rainy season, as the forecast points to alternating periods of rain and drier intervals.

The situation requires attention, especially in Mato Grosso and Goiás, where producers are preparing for soybean planting. In Primavera do Leste, Mato Grosso, and Jataí, Goiás, the volumes forecast for the next seven days are not expected to be sufficient to recover even 10% of soil moisture. A more consistent improvement is expected from October onwards.

If the irregularity persists, some agricultural areas in both states may face delays in planting rainfed crops. In the South and part of the Southeast, on the other hand, water conditions are considered satisfactory, with significant accumulations expected in Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and southern Minas Gerais.

Frequent or excessive rainfall can also hinder machinery access to the fields and increase concerns about fungal diseases in wheat. In Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, there is also potential for light to moderate frosts between September 6th and 8th.
