Pork exports grow in February, boosting the sector

Brazilian pork exports registered significant growth in February, totaling 114.4 thousand tons, an increase of 17% compared to the same period last year. Foreign exchange revenue also increased 30,6%, reaching US$ 282.9 million. The demand led by Philippines keeps the country as the largest importer of Brazilian pork, closely followed by China.

Other markets like Hong Kong, Japan, Chile, Singapore, Argentina, Uruguay, Ivory Coast and Mexico also expand their purchases, consolidating Brazil as a essential partner in the global protein trade. In the accumulated period of January and February, Brazil exported more than 220 thousand tons, generating revenue exceeding half a billion dollars, growth of 26%.

The positive scenario reinforces the expectation of a promising year for Brazilian pig farming, which remains the fourth largest exporter and producer in the world, strengthening its role in global food security, according to ABPA president Ricardo Santin.
