Strong demand and record exports boost the cattle market.

The month of October brought a slight increase in demand for animals in the spot market, halting some price declines and allowing for small increases, according to surveys by Cepea.

As a result, ranchers are regaining some enthusiasm for negotiating. This scenario is observed both in São Paulo and in the other regions monitored by the Research Center.

Dry weather and a lack of pasture are making the supply of pasture-raised animals very low. Among the feedlot herds, researchers explain that a large portion is committed to the industry, but the percentage still to be sold is gradually increasing.

In the wholesale market for bone-in meat in Greater São Paulo, there was a slight increase in the price of all cuts (with firm prices) in recent days, in a context of sales considered normal for the beginning of the month, according to surveys by Cepea.

Regarding exports, data from Secex analyzed by Cepea shows that 348,000 tons of beef (both fresh and processed products) were shipped in September, the highest monthly volume in the Secretariat's series, which began in 1997.

As a result, total exports from January to September reached 2.41 million tons, exceeding the result for the same period in 2024 by 15.41 TP4T and setting a new record. China and Hong Kong were the main drivers of this movement, accounting for 56.71 TP4T of the total meat sold by Brazil.
