With US$1.5 billion in the first two months, Paraná leads exports in the South region

Paraná's exports totaled US$1.5 billion in the first two months of 2025, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC) , raised by the Paraná Institute for Economic and Social Development (Ipardes). It is the highest value among the states in the South region, surpassing the results of Rio Grande do Sul (US$1.19 billion) and Santa Catarina (US$1.77 billion).

Paraná's export agenda is led by fresh chicken meat, with sales of around US$$ 663.46 million in the first two months, followed by soybeans (US$$ 467.92 million), cereals (US$$ 221.47 million) and soybean meal (US$$ 165.03 million).

The products from Paraná that are most popular on the foreign market demonstrate the economic relevance of the state's agribusiness, which plays an important role as a food supplier on a global level.

According to the CEO of Ipardes, Jorge Callado, with the increase in sales of the main agricultural products, the trend is for exports from Paraná to accelerate throughout the year. “This year, Paraná will record a primary production volume close to a record level, which will have positive effects on the state’s exports and also on our GDP,” he emphasizes.

Destinations

The main destination for exports from Paraná was China, which purchased US$$ 598.66 million in goods produced in the state. Next came Argentina (US$$ 234.78 million), the United States (US$$ 214.05 million), Iran (US$$ 127.13 million) and Bangladesh (US$$ 111.05 million).

Bangladesh, in fact, has been substantially increasing its purchases of products from Paraná, with an increase of 195.4% compared to the first two months of 2024, when shipments to the country resulted in revenues of US$ 37.6 million.

In addition to these countries, goods produced in Paraná reached 177 different markets in the first two months of 2025, which includes not only well-known buyers, such as the United States and South American neighbors, but also smaller economies, such as Botswana (Africa) and Laos (Asia).

Trade Balance

The State also closed with a surplus in the trade balance in the first two months of the year, with a trade surplus of US$106.03 million. The result is the difference between US$1.25 billion in exports and US$1.14 billion in imports.

The main goods purchased on the international market that entered Paraná were fertilizers, which totaled US$$ 331.86 million in movement, followed by organic chemical products (US$$ 245.22 million) and auto parts (US$$ 204.32 million).
