The Brazilian government announced that health authorities of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) have authorized the import of fetal bovine serum from Brazil. The economic bloc comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, with a combined population of over 183 million.
Last year, the bloc's countries imported more than US$1.4 billion in Brazilian agricultural products, mainly soybeans, meat and coffee.
Fetal bovine serum is considered a strategic input, with predominant use in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in research laboratories, for the production of vaccines, medicines and cell multiplication.
With the new authorization, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 409 market openings since the beginning of 2023, consolidating the diversification of the export agenda.
