Imea (Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics) released a report detailing updates on the state's corn harvest. The survey highlights that corn supply is expected to grow in the state, but demand will also be high.

The supply expectation for the 2024/25 cycle is now 55.10 million tons, an increase of 13¹3% compared to the last harvest, driven by the record production registered in Mato Grosso.

Demand is now projected at 53.70 million tons, an increase of 10.48% compared to the previous season, driven mainly by the greater export outlook for the cycle.

“Expectations point to 28.05 million tons, an increase of 15.90% compared to what was seen in the 23/24 harvest. Consumption in Mato Grosso was projected at 17.41 million, an increase of 6.72% compared to the last harvest, corresponding to 32.42% of demand”, highlight Imea analysts.

Given this scenario, final stocks for the 24/25 cycle were forecast at 1.41 million tons, reflecting the large production in the state.

“With this, the current season is consolidated as a record not only in terms of production, but also in terms of demand and stocks, which even surpassed that of the 22/23 harvest,” the report points out.
