The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued two alerts this Tuesday (23) affecting several regions of the country, with particular emphasis on Mato Grosso, as well as Minas Gerais, Goiás, Acre, Amazonas, Espírito Santo and the Federal District. Forecasts indicate heavy rain, risk of hail and strong winds until Wednesday morning (24).
The first warning is for a storm, classified as potentially dangerous. It has been in effect since 9:40 AM this Tuesday and continues until 10:00 AM tomorrow. The forecast indicates rainfall of 20 to 30 mm/h or up to 50 mm/day, wind gusts between 40 and 60 km/h, and the possibility of hail. Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology) also warns of the risk of flooding, power outages, falling tree branches, and damage to crops.
Among the affected areas are several regions of Mato Grosso, such as the Central-South, Northeast, North and Southwest of the state, as well as municipalities in Goiás, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Tocantins, Rondônia, Acre, Amazonas, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and the Federal District.
The second warning is for heavy rain, with a high degree of danger. It began at 9:30 am this Tuesday and is valid until 9:00 am on Wednesday. In this case, the forecast indicates rainfall of 30 to 60 mm/h or 50 to 100 mm/day, accompanied by winds between 60 and 100 km/h, with a risk of flooding, lightning strikes, and power outages.
This warning primarily affects areas of Amazonas and Acre, including the Juruá Valley and the Acre Valley.
Inmet advises the public to avoid going outside during bad weather, to seek safe places, and not to take shelter under trees or power poles. In case of emergency, it is recommended to contact Civil Defense and the Fire Department.
