To support producers, the National Rural Learning Service of Mato Grosso (Senar MT), through its Technical and Managerial Assistance (ATeG) for Coffee Farming, monitors 261 properties in six municipalities in the Northwest region: Colniza, Juína, Aripuanã, Cotriguaçu, Nova Bandeirantes, and Nova Monte Verde.

The work is carried out by field technicians, who guide producers in both crop management and monitoring the costs and results of the activity. Between April and July of this year, 219 properties monitored by ATeG sold 19,400 sacks and generated R$ revenue of 16.2 million. After operational costs, the economic margin recorded in the period was 73%.

The results reinforce the importance of combining productivity and quality. For technical assistance, producing more does not necessarily mean higher income when there is a loss in coffee quality. The support aims to help the producer control costs, manage the crop properly, and preserve the product standard to achieve better marketing opportunities.

In addition to on-farm assistance, Senar MT has also been promoting training initiatives to strengthen the production chain. This year, it held the Coffee Workshop in Colniza for the first time on September 26th, and promoted the second edition of the event in Juína in July, providing technical information related to coffee production and quality.

According to Bruno de Faria, Technical Assistance Manager at Senar MT, the Coffee Workshop is an opportunity to present the work developed by technical assistance in the municipality and to reinforce the importance of training producers to improve the quality of production.

“It’s an opportunity to showcase the work of our technical assistance team in the municipalities where we operate. Training is fundamental so that producers can improve their production and deliver coffee to consumers with the quality that the market demands,” he stated.

The president of the Colniza Rural Union, Antônio Melo, emphasizes that the growth of coffee farming in the municipality requires investments in technology, quality, and infrastructure to keep pace with the advancement of production. He believes that initiatives like the Coffee Workshop contribute to bringing producers closer to information and solutions for the challenges of the activity.

“Coffee farming has been growing significantly in Colniza, and this event is important for strengthening producers, bringing technology, and improving the quality of production. Today, we face the challenge of logistics because the infrastructure still doesn't keep pace with this growth. We have the production; now, we need to work to protect it and create conditions for it to advance even further,” he emphasized.

Economic planning is another important point for the activity. According to the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), the average annual cost of coffee production in Mato Grosso was estimated at R$ 11,500 per hectare in the second quarter of 2026.

The analysis considers a small-scale Robusta coffee production model and indicates that the return on investment varies according to the stage of the crop. For a new area, the return occurs later, while in an already established crop the investment tends to be recovered in less time.

“The goal is to find a balance between productivity and quality. Producing more bags, in itself, does not mean higher income if there is a loss in the quality of the coffee. The producer needs to know their costs, manage the crop properly, and work to deliver a quality product that has a higher market value,” explains ATeG supervisor, Cristiani Bernini.

Data from the National Supply Company (Conab) indicates that coffee production in Mato Grosso in the 2026 harvest is estimated at 268,900 bags (-3.5% compared to 2025), placing the state in 9th position in the national ranking.

Despite the cadastral adjustment of the area under production to 10,300 hectares, the crops recorded a gain of 10.8% in productivity, reaching 26.1 sacks per hectare, driven by the expansion of clonal coffee plantations of Coffea canephora (conilon/robusta) and by the good water balance during the reproductive phase.

THE MM Cereais works with the best grains on the market in the Central West Region and also keeps you up to date with the latest news and analyses on agribusiness.
Don't forget to follow our social networks.

Access News Source

O Sistema Federação da Agricultura e Pecuária de Mato Grosso (Sistema Famato), neste 1º de…

[90
240,239,241
post-28125","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-centro-oeste","tag-agricultura","tag-agronegocio","tag-cafe
["GET
