The combination of advancing harvests in the United States, sales by American producers, weaker exports, and greater availability of the second Brazilian crop favors a defensive stance. In Brazil, the reduction in shipments in August increased domestic supply and helped push the ESALQ\/BM&FBovespa Indicator from the R$ 71 region to near R$ 69.20 per sack.<\/p>\n

For farmers, the advice is to gradually increase sales, take advantage of any price increases, and protect part of the production with hedging, avoiding concentrating the entire strategy on the expectation of Chinese purchases. A loss of support at US$ 5.23 per bushel in Chicago would be a signal to reinforce caution.\n<\/p>\n

For the animal feed industry, the greater availability of corn favors installment purchases, while the ethanol sector can take advantage of any reduction in the cost of raw materials, provided it preserves margins on ethanol and co-products. The assessment is that the market may still react to new external events, but, in the meantime, the predominant strategy is to manage risk and avoid concentrated bets.\n<\/p>\n
