With the arrival of September and the official end of the sanitary break period in the main producing states, the Brazilian countryside is preparing to kick off the harvest season. soy<\/a> 2026\/2027. The tractors are serviced and the seeds are waiting in the sheds, but the exact moment to put the planter in the ground will require, more than ever, extreme precision. We are entering an agricultural cycle where the margin for error is minimal, and the agronomic strategy will need to go hand in hand with disciplined financial planning.\n<\/p>\n

The narrative that Brazil only grows by opening new frontiers is a thing of the past. The territorial expansion of soybean cultivation is practically stagnant, registering the lowest rate of growth in 20 years. However, this does not mean stagnation in volume; quite the contrary!<\/p>\n

Even with less cleared land, Brazil will not only maintain its global leadership, but also has the potential to set a new historical record. The secret lies within the farm gate: a strong expectation of increased productivity. According to Datagro projections, crop efficiency should jump to 3,763 kg\/ha, raising the potential of the national harvest to 185.6 million tons. Brazilian producers will prove this harvest that it is possible to do much more with the same hectare, using technology as their main ally.<\/p>\n

We will produce like never before, but with tight margins.<\/p>\n

However, the positive expectations regarding volume mask current challenges. Consolidated data from the 11th Grain Crop Survey, released in August by the National Supply Company (Conab), combined with market analyses, point to the "record paradox": we will produce like never before, but financial margins are tighter than ever, operating very close to the so-called breakeven point, where total revenue equals total costs \u2013 which in practice means there was neither profit nor loss.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Measures announced by the Federal Government<\/p>\n

At the end of June, the Federal Government made two important announcements that impact small, medium, and large rural producers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the 2026\/2027 Harvest Plan, R$525.1 billion was announced for agribusiness, an increase of R$9 billion over the R$516.2 billion of the previous cycle, representing an increase of 1.7%.<\/p>\n

For the 2026\/2027 Family Farming Harvest Plan, R$97.3 billion in resources were announced. This amount will be allocated to credit, agricultural insurance, public procurement, rural extension, and technical assistance. Of the total, R$85.2 billion will go to the National Program for Strengthening Family Farming (Pronaf). This represents an increase of almost R$91 billion compared to the previous harvest. The package also includes reduced interest rates and expanded financing limits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

These resources for operating costs, marketing, and investments will be the main lever to guarantee the producer's cash flow over the coming months. However, in addition to the financial challenge, there is always the impact of the weather. The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) maintains its alert about the continuation of El Ni\u00f1o, with effects expected to extend until 2027. Forecasts indicate real risks of irregular rainfall and intense heat waves in the Central-West region between August and October. This transforms the planting window into a real chess game. Plant in dry soil or wait for the rains to consolidate? The decision will define the plant stand and, consequently, the productive ceiling of the entire harvest.<\/p>\n

It's also important to emphasize that there are no miracles when it comes to planting and harvesting. Besides good planning, planting also requires the use of products that protect it when the weather becomes too dry or there is excessive rainfall. Just as we humans use vitamins and medicines in our daily lives, plants outdoors also need this care. A good example is a product recently launched by Agrichem \u2013 a Nutrien brand focused on plant nutrition \u2013 which offers greater mobility and translocation of potassium within the plant compared to traditional competitors. Called Supa K, the fertilizer presents, from a practical management standpoint, fundamental advantages such as a low salinity index and a lower deliquescence point. For producers facing the thermal and water stress of El Ni\u00f1o, this translates into physiological safety and less dependence on relative humidity for the nutrient to be effectively absorbed.\n<\/p>\n

Experience combined with innovation<\/p>\n

The 2026\/2027 soybean harvest will not only be remembered for its volume, but also for the resilience and professionalism of those who planted it. Faced with squeezed margins and volatile weather, luck ceases to be an acceptable variable. The success of Brazilian soybeans in this cycle will reside purely in technical efficiency, the adoption of cutting-edge seed and nutrition technologies, and rigorous financial management. It is time to combine the age-old knowledge of looking to the sky with the modern technology of protecting the crop and looking at the spreadsheet. The harvest has already begun, and it will be won through attention to detail.<\/p>\n
