Barley harvesting began in Paran\u00e1 in August and reached 4% of the estimated area this week. According to data released by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral) of the Paran\u00e1 State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab), the pace is close to that recorded in the same period of the previous harvest, but excess moisture is already worsening crop conditions.\n<\/p>\n

The area cultivated with barley in the state reaches 130,000 hectares, 23% above the 106,000 hectares sown in 2025. Despite the expansion, the cold, humid climate with predominantly cloudy days worries producers, especially in areas in the final stage of maturation.<\/p>\n

According to data released by Deral, the portion of crops classified as being in average condition decreased from 14% to 20% in the last seven days. Meanwhile, the portion considered to be in good condition fell from 86% to 80%.<\/p>\n

The situation is also worse than that observed in the same period of 2025. At that time, according to data released by Deral, 90% of the crops were in good condition and 10% were classified as average.<\/p>\n

Excess moisture primarily affects areas that are still in the reproductive stage. With deteriorating field conditions, producers face greater uncertainty regarding the crop's yield potential.<\/p>\n

Given this scenario, according to data released by Deral, it is unlikely that Paran\u00e1 will repeat the yield of 4,736 kg\/ha achieved in the last harvest.<\/p>\n

The expansion of the cultivated area, however, can help offset some of the eventual reduction in productivity. The 23% increase in the sown area raised the state's production potential and still allows for the possibility of exceeding the 500,000 tons obtained in the previous cycle.\n<\/p>\n

For this result to be achieved, the weather will be crucial during the harvest. According to data released by Deral, the peak of the work is expected to occur between October and November.<\/p>\n

This weather pattern reduces the margin for favorable expectations during the spring, precisely when the barley harvest should gain momentum.<\/p>\n

The development of the crops and the rainfall patterns in the coming months should determine whether Paran\u00e1 will be able to surpass the volume produced in the previous cycle.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
