During this period, the existence of live plants in crops, roadside areas, storage areas and other places where spontaneous germination may occur is prohibited.

This measure is considered one of the main strategies to reduce the survival of the fungus that causes Asian soybean rust between harvests. Among the obligations of producers is the elimination of so-called "tiguera," "guaxa," or volunteer plants, which are those that germinate spontaneously after harvest.

Control measures must be implemented within this period to prevent these plants from serving as a green bridge for the maintenance of the disease in the field. If the disease is detected, the producer must implement immediate control measures. The rules also apply to the transport of soybean grains and seeds, which must be properly packaged to prevent spills on highways and public roads.

Farmers need to constantly monitor their crops to detect the presence of Asian soybean rust early. According to Alex Rosa, a technical analyst in Agriculture at Famato, during inspections, notices may be issued if volunteer plants (weeds) are found that do not comply with current regulations.

The rules also cover the transportation of grains and soybean seeds, stipulating that loads must be properly packaged to prevent spills on highways and public roads.

"Failure to comply with the established requirements may result in administrative measures, such as notifications, elimination of irregular areas, application of fines and other sanctions provided for by state legislation on plant health defense," he explains.

Asian soybean rust, caused by the fungus Phakopsora pachyrhizi, is considered one of the most severe diseases affecting soybean crops. The fallow period and compliance with phytosanitary measures help reduce the fungus's survival, decrease disease pressure in crops, and preserve the sustainability of agricultural production in Mato Grosso.

The phytosanitary calendar for soybeans in Mato Grosso for the 2026/2027 crop season was published in a Joint Normative Instruction from the State Secretariat for Economic Development (Sedec) and the Mato Grosso Agricultural Defense Institute (Indea-MT), which also defines the planting of soybeans, which will be authorized between September 7, 2026 and January 7, 2027.

THE MM Cereais works with the best grains on the market in the Central West Region and also keeps you up to date with the latest news and analyses on agribusiness.
Don't forget to follow our social networks.

Access News Source

O Sistema Federação da Agricultura e Pecuária de Mato Grosso (Sistema Famato) alerta os produtores…

[90
240,239,751
post-27240","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-centro-oeste","tag-agricultura","tag-agronegocio","tag-soja
["GET
