Goi\u00e1s has reached second place in the national ranking of sugarcane production and recorded the largest harvest of the last decade, according to data from the 4th survey of the 2025\/26 harvest by the National Supply Company.
\nIt is estimated that the state will produce 80.1 million tons this season, a result 2% higher compared to the previous cycle.
\nThe increase was driven by the expansion of the planted area, which grew by 6.31% and surpassed 1 million hectares under cultivation. This performance is also linked to the use of technology in the field, improvements in agricultural management, and greater productive efficiency.<\/p>\n
Over the past ten years, Goi\u00e1s has shown above-average growth in the sugarcane and energy sector. While Brazilian sugarcane production increased by 2.41% of its total production per hectare (TP4T) during this period, the state registered an expansion of 18.51% of its total production per hectare (TP4T). The productivity of Goi\u00e1s's crops also advanced more than the national average, with growth of 10.71% of its total production per hectare (TP4T), compared to 3.51% of its total production per hectare (TP4T) nationally.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Goi\u00e1s expanded its harvested sugarcane area by 7.1% in the last decade, while Brazil registered a contraction of 1% in the same period.<\/p>\n
Data from Conab also shows that the state occupies a prominent position in the production of sugarcane derivatives. The volume of Total Recoverable Sugar (ATR), an indicator used to measure the potential for sugar and ethanol production, reached 10.7 million tons, placing Goi\u00e1s second in the country.<\/p>\n
In the production of crystal sugar, the state reached 3 million tons and ranked third nationally. In the production of sugarcane ethanol, Goi\u00e1s appears in second place in the Brazilian ranking, with an estimated production of 4.5 billion liters, equivalent to 16.71% of the national total.<\/p>\n
According to the Goi\u00e1s Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, crops such as soybeans, corn and sugarcane have contributed to consolidating Goi\u00e1s among the main states in Brazilian agribusiness.<\/p>\n
In the international market, the sugar and ethanol sector also had a significant share in Goi\u00e1s' exports in 2025. For the 2026\/27 harvest, the initial forecast indicates stability in the sector. The estimate is for a production of 79.7 million tons of sugarcane, maintaining a cultivated area above 1 million hectares and an average productivity of 77.7 tons per hectare.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
