With areas still to be harvested, the excess rainfall has prevented the removal of the grains at the ideal time, increasing damage levels, moisture content, and discounts applied in sales. In many properties, the last plots show visible deterioration, with soybeans sprouting in the pods and grains above the moisture standard required by warehouses.

The vice-president of Aprosoja MT, Luiz Pedro Bier, states that the organization is following the progress of the harvest throughout the state with concern. According to him, there have already been more than 30 days of intense and continuous rain in various regions, which has hampered the progress of machinery in the fields and increased losses. “The harvest continues at a slow pace, and Aprosoja MT continues to monitor the situation with great concern. The rains are truly punishing Mato Grosso's producers,” he stated.

Luiz Pedro Bier also emphasizes that, given the increase in discounts due to moisture and damaged grains, producers can seek support from the Legal Classifier program, offered by the organization. “For producers facing classification problems, we offer the Legal Classifier. The program verifies the classification of your soybeans. Simply contact us through the Producer Channel and we will send a classifier to answer questions and provide more security at this time,” he highlighted.

Photo: Courtesy of the Government of Bahia

Although the survey by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (IMEA) indicates that the harvest has already exceeded 65% of the planted area for the 2025/26 crop, the pace has slowed in recent weeks due to frequent rains. The consequence has been a loss of quality, reduced productivity, and a direct impact on crop profitability. In several regions, producers report that discounts increase with each day of delay, making it difficult to even estimate the losses before delivery to warehouses.

In the far north of the state, where the rainfall was even more intense, the scenario illustrates the situation faced by many producers, but the problem extends throughout the entire territory of Mato Grosso. “Here in the far north of Mato Grosso, we had a very slow planting due to the water deficit from September to October, and this has now resulted in a slower harvest. There are producers who harvested 100% from their area, others 70%, and some who are only now reaching around 50%, but all of them reported losses due to damage and also the high grain moisture content, due to the heavy rains in the last 20 days,” reports Diego Bertuol, administrative director of Aprosoja MT and producer in Marcelândia.

A survey conducted in partnership with IMEA and the Municipal Department of Agriculture of Marcelândia indicates losses that could reach approximately R$1,800 per hectare, considering losses due to damaged grains and discounts resulting from high humidity. The situation is repeated in other regions of the state, where producers report similar difficulties in completing the harvest and preserving the quality of the product.

In the southern region, the situation is also worrying. “We've had an extremely rainy February, with over 500 millimeters of accumulated rainfall in various regions of the state. We've found situations of damaged soybeans, sprouting in the pods, and damp grains being delivered to warehouses; all of this generates a series of discounts and losses for the producer,” says Jorge Diego Giacomelli, 2nd administrative director of Aprosoja MT. According to him, in the most affected areas, losses have already reached 251 TP4T, especially in the last plots to be harvested.

Photo: Disclosure

In addition to crop losses, logistics has become one of the main obstacles at this time. With a large portion of rural roads unpaved, excessive rainfall has caused mudslides, collapsed wooden bridges, and traffic disruptions, hindering the flow of production to warehouses. "We have trucks that have been in line for more than three days waiting to get past some mudslide, this with damp and already damaged grain inside the load, further compromising the quality of the delivery," explains Bertuol.

In the western part of the state, the reality is no different. “The last days of the harvest are very complicated. Even if the sun comes out and you manage to harvest, sometimes there are no roads to get to the warehouse. The roads develop potholes and mud, and within a few hours they become impassable,” reports the vice-president of Aprosoja MT for the western region, Gilson Antunes de Melo.

Heavy truck traffic on roads already weakened by excess moisture has worsened the damage. There are reports of vehicles overturning and huge lines at warehouses, which are also facing difficulties receiving grains with high moisture content. "Every day that passes, the discounts are increasing, the soybeans are spoiling," says Gilson.

The problem, according to the producers, is not only one of production, but also of finance.

Given the seriousness of the situation, municipalities such as Feliz Natal, Matupá, and Marcelândia have declared a state of emergency, mobilizing municipal agencies and authorizing emergency actions to mitigate the impact of the rains on local infrastructure and the productive sector. The measure aims to support producers and accelerate repairs to affected roads and bridges, at a time when the priority is ensuring the harvesting of soybeans.

<img loading="lazy" data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-199017" data-attachment-id="199017" data-permalink="https://opresenterural.com.br/soja-mantem-lucratividade-elevada-em-cenario-de-custos-que-pressionam-outras-cadeias-do-agro-paranaense/colheita-de-soja-fotosjaelson-lucas-arquivo-aen/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/opresenterural.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/colheitasoja_058.jpg?fit=1400%2C933&ssl=1" data-orig-size="1400,933" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"22","credit":"Jaelson Lucas/Arquivo AEN","camera":"Canon EOS 5D Mark III","caption":"Colheita de soja. Although corn planting is underway, part of the area will be planted outside the ideal window. “I believe the corn planting window has already passed. Ideally, planting should be done by February 15th or 20th, and we still have a lot of corn to plant because we can't harvest the soybeans. But the farmer's biggest concern is the soybeans. They pay the bills, they provide sustainability for the producer,” emphasizes Gilson. According to him, many producers already have signed contracts and face the risk of paying washout fees, a contractual clause that provides for financial settlement when the product is not delivered, should they fail to meet their commitments.

Even with the risk to the second corn crop, the biggest concern remains with soybeans. “In the overall context today, everything is a concern because it's a situation beyond the producer's control: excessive rain, logistics, harvesting conditions, planting conditions—everything is piling up and falling on the producer's shoulders, and he has to do what's in his hands, which is to hope for better weather, get the soybeans out of the field, and start planting the second corn crop. It's a very worrying situation, and we hope that from now on the weather will stabilize and we can move forward with the harvests,” said Jorge Diego Giacomelli.

With high costs, increasing debt, and difficulties in accessing rural credit, the prolonged rains intensify the pressure on the productive sector. While monitoring weather forecasts for the coming days, producers remain mobilized to take advantage of any sunny spell and reduce losses from a harvest that, until the final stretch, had been considered promising in the field, but which now faces an outcome marked by uncertainty and losses.

THE MM Cereais works with the best grains on the market in the Central West Region and also keeps you up to date with the latest news and analyses on agribusiness.
Don't forget to follow our social networks.

Access News Source

As chuvas intensas registradas nas últimas semanas em Mato Grosso têm impactado o encerramento da…

[90

post-26668","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-centro-oeste
["GET
