Mato Grosso was the state with the largest share of Brazilian beef exports in 2025, accounting for 23.11% of the total volume shipped by the country. Throughout the year, approximately 978,400 tons of the protein were exported to 92 countries, consolidating the state as the main national player in the international trade of the sector.<\/p>\n
In a comparison between states, Mato Grosso leads the ranking of exports. Next are S\u00e3o Paulo, with 833,800 tons exported, Goi\u00e1s, with 508,100 tons, Mato Grosso do Sul, with 450,100 tons, and Minas Gerais, which closes the list of the five largest exporters, with 324,600 tons sold to the foreign market.<\/p>\n
According to Bruno de Jesus Andrade, Project Director at the Mato Grosso Institute of Meat (Imac), the numbers reflect a structural change in the state's livestock industry.<\/p>\n

"Mato Grosso has made great strides in production efficiency, animal health, and supply chain organization. We have also invested in participating in international fairs and events to promote Mato Grosso beef and to show that the state is prepared to meet the demands of the most discerning markets, both in terms of quantity and quality," he assesses.<\/p>\n
The performance was driven by a year considered historic for livestock farming in Mato Grosso. In 2025, the state recorded the slaughter of 7.4 million head of cattle, reaching an approximate revenue of US$4 billion from beef exports. The average price per ton was around US$5,400, reflecting the appreciation of the product in strategic markets.<\/p>\n
There were also changes in the profile of the main destinations for meat produced in Mato Grosso. China maintained its leadership as the largest buyer, concentrating 54.8% of imports. Following are Russia, with 6%, Chile, with 4.85%, and the United States, which accounted for 4.1% of purchases of Mato Grosso's protein throughout the year.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough China remains the main destination, the growth of other markets shows that Mato Grosso has been able to access countries with different sanitary and commercial requirements. This reduces risks and expands opportunities for adding value to Mato Grosso beef on the global stage,\u201d says the Projects Director of Imac.<\/p>\n
The markets that paid the highest prices for beef from Mato Grosso were the European Union, with an average of US$6,022.79 per ton, and the Middle East, with US$4,250.79. China, despite being the main destination in terms of volume, recorded an average price of US$4,145.84 per ton, below that practiced in markets with more demanding sanitary standards and certifications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
