In a scenario of rising calf prices, increased female slaughter, and record beef exports, Zoetis, a world leader in animal health, held another edition of Gerar Corte, established as one of the main technical platforms for discussion on bovine reproduction in the country.<\/p>\n
This year, Gerar Corte 2025 presented the 19th edition of the Gerar Notebook, with an analysis of 1.4 million data points from TAI (Timed Artificial Insemination) collected from farms across the country. The results showed an average pregnancy rate of 50%, with one-third of the farms above the average, highlighting the growth potential of the reproductive system with the use of technologies.<\/p>\n
Created by Zoetis in partnership with Professor Jos\u00e9 Luiz Moraes Vasconcelos, the Specialized Group in Applied Herd Reproduction (Gerar) brings together the largest group of veterinarians working in bovine reproduction in Brazil \u2013 an average of 450 veterinarians in 6 meetings across Brazil.<\/p>\n
Annually, the group monitors the results of the breeding season and analyzes the progress achieved through the use of Zoetis reproductive technology for AI and embryo transfer, strengthening the technical development of the sector. \u201cThis year's Gerar event aimed to connect the links in the chain, bringing together meatpacking plants, consultants, and producers to discuss the current market situation. Our purpose is to share knowledge and practical strategies that increase the efficiency of bovine reproduction,\u201d explains Jos\u00e9 Luiz Moraes Vasconcelos. \u201cIn this heated market environment, with rising calf prices and increased female slaughter, investing in technologies that increase pregnancy rates and concentrate calving at the beginning of the calving season is essential to maintain the profitability and productive efficiency of the system,\u201d he emphasizes.<\/p>\n
Among the highlights of the survey, heifers induced and inseminated within the first 60 days of the breeding season showed 3.2 percentage points higher pregnancy rates than those not induced.<\/p>\n
Another point of concern is the low resynchronization rate observed: Less than 60% of the matrices went through this process.<\/p>\n
