The governments of Brazil and Colombia have concluded a sanitary agreement that will allow the export of bovine blood meal to the neighboring country. This ingredient, rich in protein, is widely used in animal feed production, strengthening the pet food and animal production industries.<\/p>\n
With approximately 52 million inhabitants, Colombia has a significant market for products related to animal welfare, as more than half of families own at least one pet. For Brazilian producers, this represents a strategic opportunity for expansion in the sector.<\/p>\n
In 2024, Brazil exported over US$$ 863 million in agricultural products to Colombia, with paper and pulp, refined sugar, coffee, and animal feed being the most prominent items. The new agreement further expands Brazil's presence in the Colombian market and strengthens the competitiveness of the national agribusiness sector.<\/p>\n
Since the beginning of 2023, Brazil has achieved 471 market openings for agricultural products, a result of the joint work of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). This effort reinforces the country's capacity to consolidate its position as a strategic global exporter of food and inputs for animal production.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
