The market intelligence coordinator of Scot Consultoria, Felipe Fabbri, drew attention to the fact that the price per arroba in Mato Grosso has equaled that of São Paulo, a traditional national reference. “The price per arroba worked close to R$ 300 in Mato Grosso, equaling São Paulo at some points. It is one of the few years where this has happened in the history of Brazilian livestock farming,” he stated.

According to Fabbri, the main explanation for this atypical market behavior lies in the strength of exports. “We had a massive authorization of meat processing plants to export to China in the last two years, involving the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, and Rondônia. This increased the demand for earlier-maturing cattle (up to 30 months) for export to the country, the main international buyer of Brazilian beef, keeping the price per arroba at high levels in these states,” he highlighted.

Even with the increase in export tariffs to the US this year – until then, the second largest buyer of Brazilian beef – which initially generated apprehension in the sector, the results exceeded expectations. “We had China buying one of the largest volumes of beef in Brazilian history in the last three months, and other countries buying more meat from Brazil (such as Mexico and Russia). This offset the impact of the American tariff increase and allowed Brazil to break export records in July, August, and September,” he explained.

China was the main destination for beef from Mato Grosso from January to August 2025, accounting for 62.571 TP4T of exports, followed by Russia (7.391 TP4T) and the United States (6.121 TP4T). The data comes from the Comex Stat platform, compiled by the internationalization team of the FIEMT System (Federation of Industries of Mato Grosso). “Exporting to China, in particular, requires early maturity. And the requirement for early maturity involves technique, increased productivity, and a higher production turnover,” highlighted Fabbri.

Mato Grosso leads beef exports, accounting for 231% of the total traded by Brazil with other countries. From January to August of this year, the state exported 451,400 tons, generating revenue of US$2.303 billion. It continues to stand out with the largest cattle herd, with 32.1 million head.

Science as an ally of productivity and profitability.

Beyond the positive market scenario, the event reinforced the fundamental role of science in advancing the sector's productivity. According to Thiago Trento, a livestock researcher at the MT Foundation, the results of scientific research are crucial for improving farm profitability. "Studies in nutrition, genetics, management, and animal health, for example, contribute to increasing animal productivity, promoting greater weight gain, milk production, and reproduction rates," explained the researcher. "Genetically better adapted animals fed balanced diets perform better, generating more product per unit and reducing the cost per kilogram produced," he emphasized.

According to the researcher, the application of scientific knowledge goes beyond production, guiding the efficient use of inputs such as fertilizers, water, and energy. "Research that proves sustainable practices enables access to differentiated markets, certifications, and carbon credit programs, generating new sources of revenue," he said.

For cattle rancher Marcelo Vendrame, who is also president of the board of trustees of the MT Foundation, science has been fundamental in the development of livestock farming. "Just to give an example, let's look at the data on pasture area versus meat production over the last 20 years; it shows a gigantic gain in efficiency, due to the use of research," he stated.

Technological advancements in the field were also present in the debate. Pedro Thiago, Data Science analyst at the MT Foundation, presented the main methodologies currently used to transform data into strategic decisions in the sector. "The focus of my presentation was to show how statistical methods and computational algorithms are being applied to solve prediction and classification problems in livestock farming," he explained.

According to the analyst, the efficient collection of data by sensors and devices embedded in animals already allows, for example, the estimation in advance of the loss of productive and economic efficiency during confinement. “Data analysis adds value by supporting decisions that increase the efficiency of the production system. But, for this to happen, it is essential that the algorithms are fed with robust and high-quality data,” warned Pedro Thiago.

“The main change that is happening is the use of AI (artificial intelligence) in production. Today we have a lot of data, and cross-referencing data with weather forecasts, prices, and markets will revolutionize our livestock management model,” stated livestock farmer Marcelo Vendrame.

Challenges in production costs and outlook for 2026

Despite the positive economic climate, the cost of replacement cattle remains a point of concern. "The price of calves has risen more than the price per arroba of finished cattle. This requires ranchers to take advantage of the current scenario to generate cash and invest in farm infrastructure," advised Felipe Fabbri, market intelligence coordinator at Scot Consultoria.

After two difficult years, 2025 has been a year of recovery for the sector. The outlook for 2026 is for firm prices, but with tighter margins due to replacement costs. Geopolitical conflicts and protectionist measures will continue to demand attention and resilience from livestock farmers. "Every year in agriculture is an atypical year. Serenity and good management tools are needed to deal with an always challenging scenario," concluded Fabbri.

THE MM Cereais works with the best grains on the market in the Central West Region and also keeps you up to date with the latest news and analyses on agribusiness.
Don't forget to follow our social networks.

Access News Source

O bom momento do mercado pecuário mato-grossense foi destaque no painel de abertura do 4º…

[90
240,239,307,328,330,358,361,414,473,634,635,656,660,792
post-25761","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-centro-oeste","tag-agricultura","tag-agronegocio","tag-arroba","tag-boi","tag-boi-china","tag-carcaca-atacado","tag-carne-bovina","tag-cotacao-do-boi","tag-exportacoes-carne-bovina","tag-pecuaria","tag-pecuaria-de-corte","tag-preco-da-arroba","tag-preco-do-boi","tag-valor-da-arroba
["GET
