Paran\u00e1's exports reached US$1.5 billion in August 2025, according to\u00a0data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC)\u00a0<\/span>, raised by the Paran\u00e1 Institute for Economic and Social Development (Ipardes). The volume is the largest recorded by the state in the year and represents a growth of 10.4% compared to July 2025, when US$$ 2.06 billion in products were exported.<\/p>\n

Paran\u00e1's positive performance contrasts with exports from Brazil and other Brazilian states. Overall, Brazilian exports fell by an average of 7% between July and August. Among all the Brazilian states, only Paran\u00e1, Rio Grande do Sul (10.2%), Sergipe (157.9%), and Roraima (45.3%) registered export increases throughout the month. The latter two, however, despite experiencing strong growth, have an export portfolio that represents only 3% of Paran\u00e1's export value.<\/p>\n

Considering the absolute values exported throughout the month, Paran\u00e1 was the fourth state that sold the most products to other countries, behind only S\u00e3o Paulo (US$$ 5.75 billion), Rio de Janeiro (US$$ 3.44 billion) and Minas Gerais (US$$ 3.25 billion).<\/p>\n

Right behind Paran\u00e1 were Mato Grosso (US$1.5 billion), Par\u00e1 (US$2.05 billion), Rio Grande do Sul (US$1.97 billion), Goi\u00e1s (US$1.04 billion), Santa Catarina (US$971 million), Mato Grosso do Sul (US$903 million), Esp\u00edrito Santo (US$842 million), and Bahia (US$753 million). "Sales in the international market help explain, along with other pillars of the Paran\u00e1 economy, the rising levels of employment and income that we see in Paran\u00e1 today," said Paran\u00e1's Secretary of Planning, Ulisses Maia.<\/p>\n

Products<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Food and agro-industrial products are Paran\u00e1's most exported products. Soybeans were the top-selling product in the first eight months of the year, with US$1.5 billion sold to other countries. Fresh chicken meat came in second, with US$1.5 billion exported. These two products together account for more than a third of Paran\u00e1's exports.<\/p>\n

Next are soybean meal (US$$ 847 million), raw sugar (US$$ 765 million), paper (US$$ 539 million), automobiles (US$$ 537 million), cereals (US$$ 451 million), crude soybean oil (US$$ 391 million), plywood (US$$ 381 million) and pulp (US$$ US$$ 381 million).<\/p>\n

Countries<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The growth in Paran\u00e1's exports between July and August occurred despite the entry into force of tariffs imposed by the United States on Brazil. Despite the tariffs, Paran\u00e1 managed to increase sales to other countries, demonstrating the dynamism of the local economy, its diversification, and its adaptability. "This demonstrates the competence of local businesses and the government's ability to provide support instruments to the segments most affected by the surcharges," stated Jorge Callado, CEO of Ipardes.<\/p>\n

Between January and August, China was the state's largest trading partner, purchasing US$1.5 billion worth of Paran\u00e1 products. The second largest partner is Argentina, with US$1.24 billion. Following are the United States (US$933 million), Mexico (US$600 million), India (US$445 million), Paraguay (US$425 million), Peru (US$368 million), the United Arab Emirates (US$360 million), Chile (US$360 million), and Iran (US$356 million).<\/p>\n

Imports<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Between January and August 2025, Paran\u00e1 imported US$13.70 billion in products from other countries, resulting in a positive trade balance of US$1.87 billion. Among the most imported products are fertilizers (US$2.11 billion), auto parts (US$936 million), oils and fuels (US$931 million), organic chemicals (US$866 million), and pharmaceuticals (US$721 million).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
