The Government of Tocantins, through the Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapec), concluded on Monday, June 30, the serological monitoring of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) in the swine herd, covering subsistence and technologically advanced farms. The analyses of the samples collected and sent by the Agency to a laboratory accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) confirmed the absence of the CSF virus in Tocantins.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe study was carried out on 85 properties, distributed across 55 municipalities selected by Mapa [Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock], according to their epidemiological characteristics. Of these properties inspected, serological surveillance was carried out on 43 and clinical surveillance on 42. During the serological surveillance, samples were collected for CSF testing on 413 pigs, and all samples were negative in laboratory tests, thus proving the absence of circulation of the disease virus and maintaining the state with CSF-free status,\u201d highlighted the technical manager of the State Swine Health Program, Jos\u00e9 Miranda Monteiro J\u00fanior.<\/p>\n
The president of Adapec, Paulo Lima, highlighted the importance of the result for pig farming in Tocantins. \u201cThis study is part of the Integrated Plan for Monitoring Swine Diseases and Adapec works responsibly to maintain health in pig farming, an important economic activity that has been growing in the state.
