Corn exports in Paran\u00e1 reached 1.18 million tons in the first four months of the year, an increase of 77% compared to the same period last year, in which the State registered 668.4 thousand tons according to data from Agrostat\/Mapa.<\/p>\n

This is one of the subjects detailed in the Agricultural Situation Bulletin for the week of May 8 to 14 prepared by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the State Secretariat for Agriculture and Supply (Seab).<\/p>\n

In terms of revenue, US$1.5 billion, or R$1.5 billion, was generated. This represents an increase of R$8.1 billion compared to the first four months of 2024, of US$1.4 billion. This is due to the increase in volume shipped and better prices.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, national exports registered 6.07 million tons in the same period, a drop of 14% compared to the first four months of last year, which was 7.07 million.<\/p>\n

Deral analyst Edmar Gerv\u00e1sio highlights the state's growth in the national scope of exports of the crop. \u201cFrom January to April 2024, Paran\u00e1 was in third place in the national ranking for corn exports. In the same period this year, the state consolidated itself in second place, behind only Mato Grosso,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Iran was the main destination for corn from Paran\u00e1 during the period, which imported 52% of the total volume exported by Paran\u00e1, followed by Egypt with 12.8% and T\u00fcrkiye with 11.3%.<\/p>\n

According to IBGE data, chicken slaughter in Brazil totaled 1.63 billion heads in the first quarter of 2025, an increase of 2.3% compared to the same period in 2024. There was also an increase of 0.9% compared to the last quarter of last year. Meat production followed this movement, reaching 3.45 million tons in the period. In this scenario, Paran\u00e1 maintained its national leadership. In the accumulated total for 2024, Paran\u00e1 accounted for 34.2% of slaughter and 34.9% of chicken meat produced. The state had an increase of 2.5% in the number of slaughters and 3.1% in the volume produced compared to 2023.<\/p>\n

With data from Agrostat\/Mapa, the document shows that Paran\u00e1 set a new monthly record for pork exports, in which 21.2 thousand tons were exported, or 25.5% more than April 2024, which recorded 4.3 thousand tons, and 9.3% more than the month of March this year, where 1.8 thousand tons were exported.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the outlook is positive for the coming months, as the second half of the year is historically characterized by an increase in export volume, reinforcing the chances of new records in 2025.<\/p>\n

Eggs<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the first quarter of the year, Paran\u00e1 ranked second in the national ranking of egg production, according to data from the Quarterly Livestock Surveys, by IBGE. The state's production in the period was 459.1 million dozens produced (9.8% of the national total), a volume 5.5% higher than the first three months of 2024.<\/p>\n

In terms of exports, Paran\u00e1 was 4th in the national ranking for the first four months of the year, where it exported 2,454 tons, generating revenue of US$11.7 million, lower numbers in volume (-32.5%) and revenue (-20.4%) compared to the same period in 2024.<\/p>\n

Sugar cane<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2025, the area designated for sugarcane is projected at 507 thousand hectares, 1% higher than in 2024 (501 thousand hectares) and, as a consequence, the State should harvest a larger crop of the crop this year, an expected 36.7 million tons. Harvesting began in March and around 8% have already been harvested.<\/p>\n

Dragon fruit<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the third year monitoring the production of dragon fruit, which is present in 126 municipalities in the State, in 2023 Deral recorded that Paran\u00e1 produced 3.2 thousand tons in an area of 273 hectares, resulting in a Gross Production Value (VBP) of R$ 27.5 million.<\/p>\n

The bulletin highlights the upcoming IV Brazilian Symposium and II Paran\u00e1 Meeting of Dragon Fruit, which will bring together producers, associations and cooperatives, researchers, rural extension workers and companies interested in producing the fruit between May 21 and 23, in Maring\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Tangerine<\/strong><\/p>\n

Paran\u00e1 is 4th in the Brazilian ranking of tangerine production, having produced, in 2023, 94.5 thousand tons of the fruit in an area of 7.1 thousand hectares. This represents a drop of 11.3% in area and 22% in volume between 2014 and 2023.<\/p>\n

The current harvest is at the beginning of the harvest and expectations are higher than those of the previous harvest. The good weather conditions contributed to the early ripening and the inversion of acids into sugars in the fruits. Producers can also be excited about the upcoming 57th National Ponkan Festival, from June 6 to 8, in Cerro Azul (RMC), the National Capital of Citrus.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
