Black Mung Beans
Black mung beans (Vigna radiata) are a plant that grows best in clay soils with a pH above 5.5. For cultivation, it is important that the soil is well-drained, deep, with good aeration and free from compaction.
Most of the black mung beans grown in Brazil are planted in the second harvest. Despite being a relatively new crop here, with the first areas planted in 2023, black mung beans have been showing significant growth and arousing the interest of producers and buyers.
In Brazil, this species has been cultivated in the states of Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Tocantins, Bahia and Piauí, with emphasis on the exponential increase in production areas in Mato Grosso.
