Soybeans: Brazil exports 9.81 million tons in August.

Brazilian exports of soy Exports totaled 9.81 million tons in August 2026, according to data released by Secex, despite the typical seasonal decline for the period. The volume was 26.82% lower than that recorded in July, but was 5.17% higher than shipments in August 2025, supported by greater availability of the grain in states with later harvests and by strong external demand.

The monthly decline was also observed in Mato Grosso, which experienced a more intense reduction in shipments. According to data released by Secex, the state's share of Brazilian exports fell from 27.06% in July 2026 to 14.42% in August.

In August, Mato Grosso shipped 1.41 million tons of soybeans. This volume represents a decrease of 611 TP4T compared to July 2026 and a decrease of 1.261 TP4T compared to August 2025.

According to data released by Secex, the Mato Grosso result was influenced by the lower supply of soybeans in the state. The marketing of the 2025/26 harvest is nearing its end, reducing the availability of the grain for shipments. At the same time, strong domestic demand for soybeans contributed to limiting the supply destined for the external market. With less availability in the state, shipments from Mato Grosso are expected to slow down in the coming months.

This movement should increase the participation of other states in national soybean exports. The greater availability of the grain in regions with later harvests, combined with strong external demand for Brazilian soybeans, helped sustain the national performance in August.

Even with the typical contraction observed between July and August, the volume exported by Brazil remained above that recorded in the same month of the previous year. According to data released by Secex, the 9.81 million tons shipped in August represented growth of 5.171 TP4T compared to August 2025.

The scenario shows a shift in the distribution of Brazilian shipments. While Mato Grosso is reducing its share with the progress of the 2025/26 crop marketing and the increase in domestic demand, other states are beginning to account for a larger share of national exports. For the coming months, the trend indicated by the data is a slowdown in soybean shipments from Mato Grosso and an increase in the share of other producing regions in the national export flow.
