FPA-MT and Fórum Agro MT present project to encourage the development of irrigated family farming

With the aim of implementing irrigated production hubs for fruits, vegetables and greens in areas with high production power, in addition to promoting the use of irrigation systems using photovoltaic energy, the Parliamentary Front for Agriculture and the Agro MT Forum presented this Tuesday morning (20) the Agro Familiar Project 2025 Incentive for the Development of Irrigated Family Farming. The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Mato Grosso (Famato), also discussed the need to review the leaflets of agricultural pesticides.

State deputy Hugo Garcia (Republicans), who presides over the Association of Producers of Beans, Pulses, Special Grains and Irrigators of Mato Grosso (APROFIR), highlighted the importance of irrigation for the development of vegetable agriculture in our state.

“Today, we receive around 70 trucks a day loaded with fruits, vegetables and legumes from other states to be sold here. This is unacceptable for a state like ours, known worldwide for its production potential. This project aims to strengthen our family farming, because we know that there is a market for our produce right here, and with the help of irrigation, this potential will be multiplied,” he pointed out.

State deputy Ondanir Bortolini (Nininho) reinforced the need to unlock the agendas of the productive sector and compared the state legislation with that of other municipalities. “We have examples from other states, such as Bahia, where irrigation has boosted the productive sector. Here we find it very difficult for any project that wants to improve our productivity. It seems that it is only here that it cannot be done. We need to solve these problems to further develop our production and our economy,” he pointed out.

The project aims to implement pilot centers for irrigated production of fruits, vegetables and greens, in areas with high production power, promoting an irrigation system, for 01 hectare, using photovoltaic energy, reducing production costs.

Regarding the need to review the leaflets of agricultural pesticides, the agricultural defense manager of the Mato Grosso Soybean Producers Association (Aprosoja), Jerusca Rech, pointed out that surveys have indicated the need for review, given the inefficiency of some products after being used for many years in the field.

“Technicians have been closely monitoring this issue and observing the inefficiency of some products in controlling certain pests and diseases on the farms, especially when these pests and diseases are under greater environmental pressure in certain cycles. This year, for example, we observed the issue of the caterpillar complex in corn crops, and this means that some products that have been used for a long time have not been as effective in controlling them. Therefore, it is necessary to review the instructions,” he commented.

Cow Fethab

The executive director of the Agro MT Forum, Xisto Bueno, celebrated the approval in the first vote at the ALMT of Bill 1154/2024, authored by deputy Dilmar Dal Bosco, which reduces by approximately 30% the value of Fethab to be paid on the sale of female cattle and buffaloes. “This is a very old request from Acrimat, and it has already been discussed at Sefaz and with the State Government. At this moment, the ALMT is showing sensitivity and understands the need to differentiate the charge between males and females, and this will represent a measure of justice for rural producers, since females have the lowest commercial value”, he pointed out.
