New technologies are advancing for Brazilian soybeans.

Brazilian agriculture is set to receive a new round of technologies focused on pest and weed management and increased productivity in the coming years. Among the announced projects are solutions for... soy and pesticides focused on expanding control options in the field, within a global strategy that combines seeds, biotechnology, and crop protection.

Bayer has announced plans to launch ten products with the potential for annual sales of at least €500 million each. For Brazil, one of the main highlights is Intacta 5+, scheduled for the 2027/2028 crop season. This technology is expected to combine tolerance to five herbicides with new insect protection mechanisms developed specifically for Brazilian conditions. However, commercialization depends on the completion of regulatory processes.

Another product expected to arrive in the country is the Plenexos insecticide, already launched in Colombia. According to the company, the technology acts on a broad spectrum of sucking insects and may require up to 75% less active ingredient compared to other alternatives, based on more than 600 trials conducted in Brazil between 2021 and 2025. The focus includes soybeans, cotton, fruits, and vegetables.

In its research, the company is also developing a new generation of herbicide-tolerant plants and a genetically edited soybean to reduce the risk of lodging in taller plants. Bayer also states that it is using artificial intelligence to accelerate genetic improvement and the discovery of new modes of action in pesticides. More than 15 novel mechanisms are under research, including a broad-spectrum fungicide for soybeans.
